to blog or not to blog

Got bloggers writers block today, been working since 8am...so much for working from home/lying in bed. Still can't complain, business is going very well so I think I have definitely made the right decision. Am getting more and more hooked by blogging- not just me drivelling on- but reading other people's. There's so much potential out there!

London Bloggers rule

More and more of them going live all the time. Londonist has been going for a while and is in my view one of the best. It has a good/irreverent view of all things London and is well worth a read for people both sides of the pond. Blogging has already been written off in the US as a fad but evidence here that marketers are starting to get it. Last week Guiness, the brown stuff- launched www.guinnessblog.co.uk whilst Honda is also trying out blogging by sponsoring a new brand blogging site so it's all go. Question is will it work...

Mobile madness

I have never ever seen so many people in one place at one time as at 3GSM in Barcelona- that annual mobile bun fight. It was mayhem. Was good to be back on the scene again, anyone who was everyone was there so can't complain as did actually manage to do some work outside of the partying! Special mention for VM's party - that was quality! Long time since I had been at a trade show and had forgotten the copious amounts of drugs that people take out there...some of the most senior people in the industry could be found snorting not that I am going to name names...

Barcelona Bound

I'm off to Barca on Monday for the annual mobile bunfest that is 3GSM. Used to be in Cannes but because mobile has got so big they have moved it to Spain. Should be interesting, all the big names as well as some of the smaller ones attending. I am planning to use it to build up the contacts book and try and get some more work in, rubbing shoulders with the great and the good of the industry, It's on until Wednesday 15th so will post my thoughts on it on my return. Last year, it was all about who has the biggest yacht ...this year who knows.

Meeting tastic

I had the pleasure/displeasure of being in a 4 hour brainstorm yesterday mapping out big grand plans for a large consumer brand. How funny being on the other side of the fence for once. Like many in blogosphere, I haven't really given away much about myself. After 8 years breaking news, i've given it all up to do my 'own thing'..which is a poncey way of saying I've set up my own business. This is all part of it as it's deeply connected with blogging/online comms, which is why I have become a blogger...Not that anyone seems to be reading this. Anyway so far so good with the new business, first cheque arrived today so i am obviously doing something right!
